Hi ive removed immo from several ME7.5 ECU's with the 95040 tool but just wondered if it will do the following ECU for an earlier car, ive always done post 2001 models.

1999 VW Passat 1.8t Engine Code: AEB

ECU: 8D0 907 558E

no immo on aeb in this country. i assume youre in the usa.

hes bought another ecu, because of issues with his old one this, one definitely has an immo as it wont start the car. If it has the same 95040 chip and i can remove the immo then i will do it for him, just dont want to try and find i screw it up because its different to the ones ive done before

Not touched a AEB, but from a quick google, it looks like they are m3.8.3, like the AGU. AFAIK, this means you need to desolder the eeprom to read/write it. Easiest way to beat a m3.8.3 ecu is an immo emulator http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAG-IMMO-Emulator-VAG-immobiliser-fit-for-VW-Golf-III-Audi-Passat-B4-Lupo-98-/281442330010?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item418745259a

Ive tested a similar emu on a AGU and it works just fine, plugged it into the diag port and off we went.

instructions on how to disable immo are on this site. a0 > 50 in 2 spots and correct chksums. takes about 20 seconds.

usually me7.5 ecu's have this chip type.
