I was wondering if anyone has ever attempted such a thing, I know you can run VEMS and others, but I was wondering if anyone attempted such a thing to run a ME7.1 based ECU to run the older equipment...
http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=6164.0 Never got anywhere I don't think...  would be an interesting project to undertake.

If the firing order is the same as the newer 07K I don't see why you couldn't make it work with enough work.

Yup, no prob with order.

The thing that might take some creativity is if they changed the triggers for the cam or crank.

Anyone have an ECU pinout for that 07K ECU they would be willing to share? Smiley

Thanks zillarob, I am also interested in the 07K.  I believe the attachment is for ME 17.5 do you have ECU pinout for a MY 2005-2007?

From the interwebs:

ME 7.1.1
MY: 2005-2007
Engine Code: BGP/BGQ/BPR/BPS

ME 17.5
MY: 2008+
Engine Code: CBTA/CBUA

Also, can any 7.1.1 ecu be flashed with 07K software?

I havent played with these much, but I would say no.

I think there are nbo2/wbo2 and turbo/nonturbo variants.

You're going to want an 06 07K ecu. The later ones are ST10 processor, and a ton of code is stored in the MPC. They are NOTHING like normal ME7.

The 06 is same old, same old.

wonder if the drive by wire and VVT built into this ECU would cause problems...  guessing one would have to pretty much re-engineer this ecu and base it on the AAN specs coding out the "Fluff".  Iam very good with the hardware end of things, so adapting sensors and such is totally doable, but roadblock would be the software end :S

what about the Rip Chip from 034 ?? The chip is not made by 034.... it is made by Miller Performance in Canada for BMWs .... some what the same ECU like yours . I have been running the Rip Chip for 3 year now and the chip will allow you to change the timing , fuel , injector timing and some other small stuff . I am pushing 480hp with the stock ECU with the rip chip inside ...( with a lot more bolted on to the engine ).

034 sux when it comes to customer service  but the Rip chip is perfect when you dont want to go standalone ECU. check out Miler performance website . Their chip is called the WAR chip  https://www.millerperformancecars.com/store/war-chip   and their forum is good for suport and software updates.  The UI they use is a Java base and you can rewrite it with NetBeans if you have time on your hands

It will take you about an hour to install the Rip chip and then about 2 hours to fine tune the engine pefect. I have alot of base files that are better than 034 has for the Rip chip if you buy it ... PM me if you have more questions
