2002 allroad Tip. Trying to flash a s4 file to it so I can work on coding out rear o2s and such.

551m ecu.
Try to flash over a stock 551L file. No start. Tip display lit solid like limp mode.
Found a s4 tip file. Still won't start.

Is there something I'm missing with trying to flash a 551m to a 551L?

Found another allroad Tip stock tune on here and it runs on that as well. Nothing from an s4 either tip or 6 speed file thus far.

Full list of ME7.1.x stock files:

If the car is 4Z7-551M and you can't load a 8D0-551L, something is very wrong..

What software are you using to flash? I assume not nefmoto?

I flash with mpps. Hasn't let me down yet.

I've tried numerous 551L tunes I've found around here. Starting with this one.

When using mpps I can identify the ecu in either " audi, allroad, 2.7 me7.1"  and I can identify it in " audi, s4, 2.7 me7.1"
Although I haven't tried to write to it as a s4. Only read and wrote with allroad selected.

DO NOT DO THIS. Make sure you have a stock file that works right first.

You can't change software numbers with MPPS. Flash a stock L-box with nefmoto. Then revisions with MPPS if you desire.

Try a STOCK 8D0-551L file. Make sure it runs properly. Then, make modifications to that as needed.

DO NOT RANDOMLY FLASH FILES YOU "FOUND" ON THIS (OR ANY OTHER) FORUM!

The issue is that MPPS doesn't allow you to crossflash APB bins. For whatever reason, they no longer respond until you flash back the original file. I assume it skips a pertinent sector.

I don'tNormally just grab random tunes. But I did this time to try and see if maybe it was the file bad. I only flashed tunes from more reputable members here too.
So my issue is mpps flashing on the stock allroad ecu.
So I can flash a stock s4 file through nefmoto. Then once that's done I should be able to go back to mpps then?
Hope I can find a good nefmoto cable again. It's been a while since I've used it.

Are you flashing over OBD or bootmode?
I actually ran into this issue the other day. I flashed in OBD which I never do and it bricked the ECU. Bootmode to the rescue.
