Need help getting started

I have NefMoto flasher installed.. I am trying to use a RossTech cable (I use it with VagCom). It is a Hex+Can cable Dual K and CAN USB
I open the software and it does not show a listed connection to the car. Do I need certain drivers or do I need a license?
Also this is for a 2003 Allroad 2.7T. What memory file do I select?

Close nef. Open vcds, go into settings. Untick 'boot in intelligent mode' (or tick 'force dumb mode') depending on which option you see. Test and save, close vcds, try again with nef. I find I have to open and close nef a few times to find my interface sometimes
