What's everyone's preference and why? I don't want to start a flame thread or anything, I use WinOLS just because I started out that way. I do see a lot of TunerPro usage on the forums though so thought I'd ask.

Tunerpro usage is high because it's free, and less complicated. More suited for beginners, and non-professionals (most folks on here?)

TunerPro you can use if you have a ready definition. Similar like Ecuflash for example.
OLS if you need to make said definition, which is where you will spend a lot of your time if you do this professionally. So for professional use deffo OLS.
As for piracy - there is no need to pirate it, you could just buy it you know. 1500 EUR is not that much when you are making money out of tuning.

Sure, but for the hobbyist, e1500 is quite a lot!

So its fairly clearcut, do you want to spend e1500 on some software for your hobby? If so, buy winols. If not, are you down with software piracy? If so, pirate winols. If not, use tunerpro.
Personally I'm anti-piracy for a bunch of reasons - the obvious ones like not liking ripping off developers, ripping off people who enable this industry in the first place, and also because when you start installing pirate software you open yourself up to the malware that is often shipped with it, plus actually making some more complex pirate software work is a huge pita, and life is just too short.

ME7Sum pretty much takes care of the need for pirated Winols. I still use Winols to compare between files and for some other stuff that it does better than Tunerpro but all of those things can be done with the free evaluation version of Winols.

Doesn't WinOls have a really good Checksum plugin, while TunerPro's is mediocre at best?? I've seen too many of the: ""I used TunerPro Checksum, but checksum failed on second startup...engine dies...P0601 code"" posts in the Audi forums.

What is the "TunerPro Checksum"? Hint: Don't listen to morons.
