Using my spare ecu I ran nefmoto, connected, verified the memory layout ok 29f800bt, read the ecu and saved the .bin file no problems. Then I loaded the mapped file and started to write the file. Everything went fine, until it got to 100% then said there was an error and memory maps didn't match! I started the car and it worked fine, but when I switched off and tried to start again it wouldn't just dead! I have galletto to bootmode it on the bench but any ideas why this happened?

Did you correct the checksum in the .bin after editing?

If it starts once but doesn't after it usually points to a bad-checksum, also why did you think it would be a good idea to start the car anyway after getting an error at the end of the flash?

The same file worked fine on another ECU, and is still running, flashed ok and I know the checksums are fine. I started the car out of interest to see whether the software was telling the truth :-)... Just seemed odd.

I managed to connect to the ecu after removing power to the ecu for about an hour. I first used vagcom and then nef moto. The problem I then had was when I tried to connect the ecu on the bench with nefmoto as the software didn't like the fact the immo was there. However after a little trial and error I managed with out problem to connect in bootmode with Galletto, jumping pin 24 to the ground around the outside of the pcb.
