Author Topic: Need help to adapt ECU and IC at EEPROM level  (Read 6744 times)

Hi, I'm having problems while trying to adapt ECU and Instrument Cluster with VCDS, I know it can be done at EEPROM level. I have ECU and IC EEPROM dumps, but I need help to edit files. As I understand, Immo ID, VIN and SKC should be the same on both files, any idea how to change SKC code? It is in multiple places in the file, so I have no idea, how to change it correctly.

CAR: Audi A4B6 2002 1.9TDI 130HP.
IC: KOMBI+WEGFAHRS. RB4 D37, 8E0 920 900 K
ECU: EDC15P+, 1,9l R4 EDC G000SG  1467, 038 906 019 FP

I'm attaching EEPROM files.

Good luck doing it manually on RB4 cluster... With VDO clusters it is pretty easy but I am not able to help you with yours.

What issues do you have with adapting it using VCDS?

I'm getting "SYSTEM NOT OK" on ch 50, after entering old PIN code and clicking Test button. Other problem I've noticed, that ECU does not accept its PIN code, tried to read it with VAG-COMMANDER, VAG-DASH, both returning same PIN, but when I try to login to engine block. I'm getting that it is incorrect. I'll try to play more today and will try to rewrite EEPROM from other ECU which accepts its pin code and  will give another shot with VCDS.

Maybe there is no need to do anything on cluster side? What about editing only ECU EEPROM to match IC data. Wouldn't be enough?

You should check if your dash is able to communicate with engine, ABS/ASR/ESP and transmission controllers.
Also I would check if the dash is not locked (check the lock-time in measuring blocks).

Lock time shows "0.0" in all fields (If I remember correcly it was somewhere between 22-25 channels). How to check proper IC communication with other controllers?

BTW, VCDS show these errors in IC controller

01177 - Engine Control Unit
            65-10 - Unauthorized - Intermittent
01314 - Engine Control Module
            49-10 - No Communications - Intermittent
01320 - Control Module for Climatronic (J255)
            49-00 - No Communications

But I thought these arrors appears because there is no adaptation between ECU and IC.

Only first error is connected to immobilizer. All the others should be taken care of before you try anything else (which could probably cause more harm).
Perhaps you should try to recode your CAN gateway.
You can also check proper communication in CAN gateway measuring blocks.

I can not connect to CAN Gateway block with my VCDS cable, do not know this is cable problem or something else. But according to Ross-Tech Can Gateway is not available on this car, o I dont understand somethin...

Another strange thing I've noticed: In the engine block, "extra" field showing VIN and IMMO codes. But if I go to Meas. blocks -> 080 channel, I'm getting HuhHuh? Huh? xxxxx (x - some letters and digits) Huh?, I understand that here is Control module indentification info, 081 channel is empty. EEPROM rewriting from other ECU does not fix this, in the Instrument Cluster block this info is correct at 080 channel. Any idea what could be wrong? Huh I have two spare ECUs, but with both of them I'm getting wrong info in 080-081 channels.
