Like the subject says, this is a mk2 Jetta with a 1.8t, he had am apr tune that wasn't doing this, but wanted me.to.tune a spare ecm. Now it is hitting the limiter at 3500 rpm because he doesn't have a vss. He has a cable going to his cluster on an O2A trans. Now, it was a gli, so I know those do have a vss built into the cluster, I don't know if I should try to convince him to just run the wire to the ecm, I don't think he wants to.

So, how do I disable.this limiter the ecm has there so people can't circumvent the speed limiter?

im assuming this is me7? if so, 3500 is not the missing vss speed signal limiter.

Me7.5, and I didn't personally drive it, the kid drove it.

Let me.just rephrase this.

I have a tune that has keen put on about 15 cars with zero problems. Now I'm tuning a mk2 with this tune and it's hitting the limiter much lower than it actually should.

He was running an APR tune and was fine, this new tune, which runs fine on mk4 non swap cars, is hitting the limiter at a much lower rpm than it is supposed to be, and I need to disable the limiter that these ecms have in place when they don't have a vss signal. So how do I do that?

Regardless of whether or not that exact rpm isn't right, he doesn't have a vss, which is a problem. it's supposed to be 5k right? So maybe a mk2 tach can't keep up with the 1.8t and he was breaking traction and hitting the limiter faster than the tach could register?

Either way, what we know definitively is that we need to disable that limiter, so do you know how to do it?

Got a mfa cluster? If so take a vss feed off the back of the cluster.

Yeah I'm trying to get him to do that.

It's not my car, if it was, I would do that, I'm trying to convince him to do that so he can run a few wires to his stock cruise switch and actually have cruise control again.

He doesn't want to, so could somebody please point me in the direction of the question I asked please? I know it's possible because his ecm in the car has it done, if I can't make a tune that he can just plug in he isn't going for it.

Regardless of the fact it probably runs better, and it's the right thing to do, he doesn't want to mess with it.
