	Does the ECU store VIN# info? « on: August 08, 2011, 06:51:17 AM »

So this is something that I don't know has ever been addressed on here, and I wanted to see what the consensus was. Does the ECU store VIN# info?

I'm curious because I thought it did, but then why could people pass inspection with different ECUs? Can anyone shed light on this?

All ME7 ecu's do, with immo 3

Right so once again, NA B5 S4s do not have Immob correct? So it would not be stored?

Correct b5 s4 do not have any vin info stored in them at all.

North American B5 S4s have zeros in the serial eeprom chip where the VIN number would be stored. Also, when the VIN is stored in the ECU, it is not stored in the flash memory, just in the serial eeprom.
