Could it be because I have the replacement cluster in place while doing this? Should I put the bad one back in?

The reason I ask, it's tripping the immo to prevent starting. The old cluster will still allow the car to start.

Some of these cars have imobilizers and some do not. I am trying to find a tool to R+R the non immo file from my original cluster to the new one with immo so I no longer have to look at that key in the dash mocking me. I tool a quick look at the board and did not see an eeprom on it so I am going to assume memory is in the processor?
