I'm wondering if it's possible to recode an ecu on the bench with VCDS/Vagcom? I couldn't get vcds to connect with wiring connected the same way as we would connect for bench flashing.

then you connected wrong or ecu isnt booting correctly. im guessing the latter.

Are you powering pin21? You need to on the 1.8t.

Yes sir, power to pin 3,21,62,121, ground to pins 1 and 2 and k line to pin 43.

I successfully flashed the ECU with the same setup.

Tried again and got it working. No idea why or how, but I figured it out and recoded.
