Not MORE torque, but torque given at at different pedal position. I had a commercial tune for a while in my car, the first thing I did was copy over the stock pedal map. Didn't like the jerky pedal, every time you hit a bump in the road and your foot jumped half and inch the car would surge forward or slam the throttle plate shut (at least on a naturally aspirated insta-torque V8). It was a poorly done tune of course but there is generally nothing wrong with the stock pedal maps, just have to push the pedal further for same amount of oomph.
