Hi everyone, I'm using Vagsuite to edit map files I'm new to tuning but giving it ago.. I've spoke to a couple of tuners and They have explained to me how Launch control works within the map but I want to double confirm this xD

So from the picture shown Below I want the Launch control kick in around 2500RPM and I want it to stop when the wheel speed moves above 6.5khm / MPH

Can someone tell me from what I've done is right?

You need to change the rpm axis a little also.

Assuming you want the limiter to be at 2500 then change the next column value (currently 3255?) to 2550. Ideally change other column values a little so there's not such a big gap as a result of your change.

Change 2500 to the original values and change 2550 onwards to 0. This way it'll bounce between the fuelling and fuel cut.

Hope I made some sense!

I've been told the smaller the gap the better?

Correct?

So I was gunna do

2490 to 2500

Not necessarily, you need a small gap but I doubt that small. You want it to 'bounce' between the rpm points. I think with a 10rpm difference it would probably just be a soft limiter.

Experiment with it, but I'd start with 50.

Is there a certain RPM range I'm ment to be in for instance like the boost RPM range or the turbo spooling

I believe this is the "popcorn mod". If you're referring to an in gear limiter then that needs to be done in the torque limiter map.

http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=375099 - Post #9 here keeps it pretty simple and gives good examples.

The popcorn mod won't build any boost whereas doing a soft limiter will. Leave at least 500 rpm gap...
Soft limiter results in a better launch.

Then again people doing it on their FWD cars are probably doing it for the noise, not for the performance.

So from what I've read, there are 2 stages to the popcorn mod... one to do with launch control and the other to do with gear changing, all he suggested to do in the lc map is to set a 50 rpm differents and to tweak the fueling a little.. is that correct

500rpm you say? I've only fiddled with one diesel myself and that's for a mate who wants it purely for the sound/showing off as you say. I'll give it a bash.

That's right.

The issue with any kind of "popcorn mod" is that the IQ will quickly jump between 0 and very high.
Every time it jumps to 0 the ECU will fully open the turbo vanes -> not building any boost.

The correct way to do proper launch control on diesel is to retard SOI a lot and set custom boost targets.
This way you can build lots of boost stationary.

However, this requires code mods.

ASM hacking, can't be done with standard, defined maps.  Need to hack the code, etc.
