I've had no luck thus far in my quest for contracting any aftermarket tuners for this job, since it seems to be very unorthodox and potentially never has been done before.

Please let me know if the following logic is correct in my understanding of the Me7.1.1 ECU.

Some ECUs (B5 S4, I thin) have two sets of of maps: Automatic and Manual.  So the soft code has to be the determining factor in which maps are accessed, correct?

In an effort to try and adapt something for my RS6, I can refer to the the S6 Manual and the S6 Automatic ECUs with are mutually exclusive (no dual maps).  Obviously there exists no OEM manual ECU code.

If I can take the code that looks at the soft codes from RS6 manual code and replace it with the code from the S6 manual, then this could be a solution.

For reference, I currently have:

1. the TCU disconnected and disabled in the canbus via the cluster
2. have an S6 ABS controller installed and correctly soft coded for a manual
3. have the current RS6 ECU soft coded to a manual.

When I run the RS6 stock flash I get faults on the ABS and ECU:

1. ECU - Missing TCU (doens't throw a CEL though).  I believe that even though the TCU is out of the can bus, something in the ECU code is checking for it.  I need to get rid of this.

2. ABS - Controller incorrectly coded.  I believe that the ECU dictates what ABS soft codes are allowable and I need to get he ECU to allow this particular soft code.

Also for reference, if I reflash the ECU with the S6 manual code (can't start and run the car with this of course) all of my faults and errors are gone.

Thoughts, ideas, opinions?  Anyone out there willing to advise me on where to go to get this done or how I can start in doing this myself, etc.

Why not write a letter to quattro and tell them you are driving their flaship...  you never know...

So are you just trying to disable those two fault codes, or are there other problems you are having?

abs and ecu softcoding probably needs to be changed the way you did it. but softcode doesn't determine which maps are accessed... the actual files are different on the s4... certain torque values are different.  I'm planning on comparing the s4 files and making changes to the rs6 file based off their differences.
send me a pm and I would like to help.

Most ECU's that are not TDI ECU's do not allow for switching of the transmission type. You must flash manual SW.

Being that the RS6 never came with the automatic transmission, the only option you have is find a different application that came with this motor and a manual transmission or hack the ECU code. Disabling the DTC's might work though.

Bump on this.

Any more thoughts on this?  I know it's a huge undertaking.

Can anyone recommend a source to contract with?

I'd love to try this myself, but it woudl take years for me to get it done.

it shouldnt be that hard.  you can either locate the dtc's that are being tripped and disable them like mentioned earlier. or  split the s6 manual trans portion of the flash with the rs6 engine portion.
ive done this with a couple s4 tunes and converted manual tunes to auto with no problem.

So it's been over a year since SteveKen posted in this.  Steve, any progress?  What have you tried, and where is your car currently at?  What were the actual DTC numbers for the ECU and ABS CEL?

Well, hopefully I'll soon figure it out and be smiling as well.

Steve, do you mind giving me a quick synopsis of where you're currently at and the path you've traveled?
