Hi, Looking for help with a pinout for a bench setup im building (Audi RB8 Cluster). B5S4 seems pretty well mapped out - http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=3205.0title=

But what im looking for is the RB8 Pinout.

What i have so far is just the Power and ground which works on my bench - https://www.programmersought.com/article/79631630035/

what i dont know is were Kline or CAN wires are  "if they are needed as well".
Dash Part Number is 8e0920982C

I can do a full writeup with pictures when done. If someone wants to PM me the information or share it here that would be great.

Thanks Gremlin. The final list i needed to get access to both RB4 and RB8 clusters was

Green Connector:
Pin 2 - Terminal 30 (+12V)
Pin 3 - Terminal 15 (+12V)
Pin 18 - Terminal 31 (GND)
Pin 19 - Terminal 31 (GND)
Pin 23 - K wire

OBD port:
Pin 4 - GND
Pin 7 - K wire
Pin 16 - +12V

Then you just need to make sure you clean up the harness and provide it good 12v source. Thankyou.

In a strange episode of parallel lives - I wired up an RB4 cluster from B6S4 on the bench for first time last weekend using same power, ground and K wire posted here on the green plug. I was able to extract the EEPROM contents etc.

One thing that perplexes me is that the RB4 is clearly CAN gateway on the B6 platform for the various CAN interfaces on the car. The RB4 presents CAN diagnostics pins according to the factory pinout info but those pins are not actually used on the OBD plug.

Anybody know if / when the OBD diagnosis pins get used on the RB4 cluster - just for something in the factory maybe Huh?

even on rb8 clusters can diagnosis is not connected - can drivetrain is conected to obd plug

check page 10 and 11 of SSP343  http://www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_343.pdf

pinouts of clusters are not always 100% correct - when checking wiring diagrams I've never found can diagnosis in b6/b7

I used the Kline on both cluster types with no issues. the RB8 needs the Crypto 2004+ to read it correctly... but other then that it was pretty easy to clone and move the dash from one car to the other.

Yes I know kline works - I use fvdi to rb8 wfs4 clusters , and vag dash can to rb8 wfs3 clusters. There are some rb8 clusters from b6 - vag epprom programeer and vag dash work nicely with them.

I have a bench setup with immo coil - can add keys on bench etc.

Yep it's just weird to me they could have extended the CAN gateway function in the cluster with CAN diagnosis bus from there to the OBD plug. Only mention of the CAN diagnosis pins is in the elsawin pinout info for the cluster - it's not shown on B6 wiring.
