Hello wizards of clusters and ecus.
A friend bought a 2002 RS6 without engine control unit and a cluster that somehow can`t read transponders-> No driving possible...
So we bought a spare ECU and a spare cluster (both used) and adapted everything so the car is capable of running.
But now we have another car's VIN in the Cluster and the ECU. Is it possible to somehow restore the original VIN ? What is the easiest way to do it ?
Can i just edit the VIN in the cluster dump and upload it using K+CAN Commander 2.5 from this forum, or will i end up with "def." cluster ? Are there any checksums to be corrected ? Is the eeprom encrypted ?

Original cluster dump attached. It is 4B0920937B
Spare Cluster is the same, but other VIN/SKC/IMMOID/KEYS
ECU is ME7.1.1 4D1907558

Any hints appreciated.

yes, you can overwrite the vin and rechecksum, but you will have to re-adapt the immo or disable it entirely.

Ok, is there any information available on how to rehecksum the immo eeprom ?
Is it sufficient to recode the cluster in order to repair the checksum ?

Thanks a lot..

just search vag eprom programmer - it will fix up the checksum as you edit the values on the right hand side (you'll see what i mean when you open the eeprom file)

ohhh crap sorry i told you the wrong info

(it was a while that i did this)

- i used my VIN from the ECU pull and edited the hex coding which then changes the values on the right hand side.

you must make sure you commit the changes and upload to the cluster

should work

and then you need to match it using ross tech software
