Nice! PC power supply? Gotta get me a harness from a junked car. Looks much quicker to hook up & disconnect.

yep, junkyard connector, spade connectors for the switched ignition and its as simple as that!

pc supplies are good to give a solid 12.08v with no issues, and so far I haven't had a singe bad read/program with it.

I have a junk yard ECU connector, wired to a female OBD plug. I power it with an 18 volt wall wart AC adapter that I run through a little adjustable voltage regulator set to 12.5 volts. I have a power switch before the voltage regulator, and an ignition switch after the regulator. Then everything is wrapped in heat shrink tubing.

Just cleaned up my bench harness, and am now using a random 12V AC to DC adapter I had kicking around (12V @ 1.2A) It puts out around 15V DC w/ no load on it so it's perfect.

Testing the cable w/ the new supply and since I cleaned up the connections and wrapped it nicely:

Wanted to share mine as well here.

The power supply is a universal supply, and I use it for all my bench setups.
This one is for ME7. I have a different one for M2.3, EDC and so on.

The power comes through the stereo socket via the plug. The 12V is of course inside and ground outside.
I use VAG 2x2 adapter cables to have an easy K-Line to OBD II plug, and the Motronic connector from the junkyard for 2 euros Smiley

The supply also is connected through a UPS, to prevent bricking.

Along with Pete we made a new toy tonight! I was just going to get a bunch of cables and wire up the 2 plugs we got from a scrappy earlier but then on the way home I decided we needed to pop into maplin. This soon got out of control and the extra bit of wire I needed to buy soon turned into a bunch of wires LED's resistors, connectors, switches, oh and a nice shiney black box.

So we set to work and this is what we ended up with:
