Why not flash to a more well defined file?

I see you can use a better defined xdf but unsure whether to use a 'm- box' or 'l-box '. But which one will be compatible with a European allroad 2.7t. There is good info already not 100% on the right one. Will there be immo issues?

Thanks

Too lazy to look but isn’t 551D ME7.1?  551R is MW7.1.1

Mhhh. I was under the impression that all 4Z ones have different wiring harness
and are all 7.1.1.

So will a 551R file be compatibile? On the wiki it gives a list of the ecu files and correndsponding engine codes etc. a 551R appears as me7.1 in European form but as me7.1.1 on North American form.

So do I have to look for a EU 551R xdf?

Also an EU 551H is very similar is there an xdf available for this, tried a search to no avail.

And doing more searching in the wiki it seems that the 551M or mbox is compatible for an all road my model year and tip transmission, can someone verify this so I can get this show on the road?

Any info appreciated
Thanks

Where do you see that? 4Z7..551R is me7.1.1, period.

4B0..551R is a totally different file.

No.

I don't see why you would do this.

No.

8D0...551M is manual.

Ok Thanks for all the answers Nyet.

My understanding now is I’m looking for a well defined xdf starting 4z..... and is me7.1 to match my Ecu or am I still understanding wrong?

If I am correct (doubtful), are there any good xdf files to suit?

Thanks

You can use any ME7.1 file but some do not have immo, and some (like 8D0) cannot be recoded from 6sp to tip.

You can use 8D0 551L - it is tip and (happens) to have the same map locations as 8D0 551M but it does not have immo.

Again Thanks for the reply. So I can use the 8DO 551L or L box definition file from a s4? Even though my Ecu is 4Z7 551D?

If so excellent and thanks for the all information.

As for the immo problem, will I have to deactivate the one on my allroads 95040 chip or could I just write over with an L box xdf and it will be deactivated (hardly think it’s that handy)

Thanks

No immo as in you will lose immobilizer in general. You will want to make a back up of your ecu eeprom (not flash) though just in case you want to revert or flash to a file that does have immo.

Alternately, get a spare ECU.

Perfect, all set now to go ‘L box’. I read Ecu eeprom with Argdubs tool prior to flashing.

Now another problem arises, flash successful with rear 02 delete and sai delete  and slight tune and car starts then dies. I am presuming this is an Immobilizer issue.

I will start another topic in the appropriate section (newb questions/issues)

Any help will be appreciated greatly and thanks for all the help so far
