I found the matching Properties file (VAG127) for the car (2001 Allroad 2.7T tiptronic 4Z7 907 551 K ECU). What group file works best? I only have A Box, M Box, H Box. Can some post a better group file? Is the baud rate setting critical?
Need to log today!

If you can't match, you're SOL with ecuX. It can only log cars with matching properties included with the program.
You should have much more luck with ME7 logger which is much better anyway.

Ican match the properties file. Just need the most fitting group file for a tiptronic allroad. I have tried to install ME7 on my Win7 32bit, no luck so far (the warning 'not for noobies' seems applicable). For the time being, I have to use ECUx until I can get my advanced degree in computer science. If you can't match, you're SOL with ecuX. Look for me7 logger gui application on this forum. Solves a lot of trouble for uninitiated.

Really, if you can't be bothered to figure out how ME7L works, you might not get anywhere anyway. You said you can't even figure out how to log using ECUx... and you have the right properties file now.

He's talking about the GROUP file, which is only a list of things to log

I will definitely try Me7 when I have more time to dig in. What is 'gui' and what does it stand for?

if you can't figure out which variable to log via ECUx (generating a group file) it is unlikely you'll be able to figure out ME7L

gui in computer terminology means "graphical user interface". Windows, mac os, android interface are nothing else than GUI on top of constellation of modules that comprise an OS.
Me7 logger in its natural form is command line only. A guy wrote GUI add on that allows you to use it with a single click of a mouse. Look it up.
Thanks.

Ah, thanks. Heard it before, but didn't have my mind on 'computer' rather 'car'. I will dig into ME7 this weekend. See if I can get it to run in native Win7 32bit (XP mode is NOT an option for me; tried it with other software, just not happening (see Bentley manual). gui in computer terminology means "graphical user interface".
