Hi,

i have a strange 8L0906108N APY ecu here. I were unable to write to the ecu via obd on the bench so i had to boot.
I did immo off aswell while ecu was open and ready2boot.

attached files are on the ecu when things happen like described.

mpps18 repeatedly shows switching to high speed  Undecided
mpps12-16 shows block transfer message correctly received
nefmoto shows:
Quote
Validated FTDI device is in dumb mode.
Disconnected
Connecting...
Starting fast init connection.
Connecting to address 0x01.
Fast init sent, sending start communication request.
Switching to KWP2000 session.
Connected
Fast writing premium feature NOT enabled.
Disabling Windows sleep mode.
Writing ECU flash memory.
ECU reports programming session preconditions have been met.
Negotiating communication timings.
Successfully changed to new communication timings.
Requesting security access.
ECU reports that security access is not supported.
Starting diagnostic session.
Disconnecting because no response was received for the Tester Present message.
Disconnected
Writing ECU flash memory failed.
100% complete.
Restoring Windows sleep mode.

i did try to change the voltage but nothing happened.
older mpps sometimes prompted "switch off and on again" and it did start to write but it is not repeatable for the user.

so i would like to know what is wrong with this kind of pre facelift ecu(s)

usually i use 1024kb ecus and they just work

Tried pulling instrument fuse with mpps via obd? ? Sometimes mines does that, sometimes it doesnt , I just pull immo fuse, ignition on, ignition off, instrument fuse back in , try again, if doesnt work, try with instrument fuse fully off. For some reason the instrument fuse disrupts the kline sometimes , but its weird you cant do it in bootmade either.

Also, are you sure it has a stock chip in it ?

That ECU doesen't support writhing tru OBD. I tryed with galleto 1960, galleto 2, mpps, nefmoto.
Only boot mode

Same as new ECU(software not hardver) doesen't support reading via OBD

Fast writing premium feature NOT enabled.

Why are you using that version of nef?

@blackt you are not correct
i did write some of these already i think

@nyet
Because its the one i have installed. Didnt check for newer version for years because i don't use it.
Do you mean its old version or do you refer to the premium non licenced version?

The latest version no longer requires a license for the premium features.

No. Your ECU looks like a weird variant and I don't think anything will flash to it over OBD.

That's definitely the reason
Nef shows warning about wrong memory layout on these ecu but it's ok
