So I'm finally diving into tuning my ECU, however I'm running into a problem...
This is for a BEL Engine, using the MTX plugin and ME7Check.
With a 4Z7907551R Bin Stock - ME7Check shows: RSA Signature Failure After changes - ME7Check shows RSA: Signature Failure
With 4Z7907551S Bin Stock - ME7Check shows: No errors After Changes - ME7Check shows: RSA Signature Failure
I was looking for some clarification of the RSA Signature, and if it was an error that could stop the car from starting... (I've been able to start the car and cycle the ignition with the RSA failure with no problems, I'm just worried about getting stranded somewhere if it doesn't start up one time due to this).

ME7check must be checking stuff wrong. If you had issues with checksums, it wouldn't let you start the car or at best it would only let you do it once. Any further attempts would not be successful.

RSA failure results in only being able to start the car once on early ME7, 3 times on later ME7 and once on MED9
|

RSA signature errors doesnt affect the ECU at all, everything works.
this is a KNOWN issue for the 2002> algoritm, and there is nothing wrong with the ME7Check program.
Salvatore at MTX electronics, who wrote the checksum plugins that many ppl here are using, told med he will take a look at these RSA signatures in a not too distant future, but that it was low priority since everything works 110% without them.

Just an update - I haven't had any issues running a bin with an RSA failure, it's only been two days but I have cycled the ignition at least 15 times. It appears to not cause any problems, as sn00k said. I do keep a spare good ECU in the trunk just in case though...

I'm afraid you are wrong. Flash an RSA secured file (that has active RSA) in to your ECU over the OBD port, with an incorrect RSA sum with and see what happens. I know this for a fact because I worked on disabling the RSA checking in these files. Some ME7 files have an unused RSA signature in them, if these are the files that you are refering to... The ECU is easy to recover after the RSA has denied you anyway.

let me rephrase, the rsa signature error caused by the MTX plugin wont affect the ECU at all, even when flashing active files, so id assume it corrects the sums that it needs to corrected? if im wrong in this feel free to correct me.. again.. ..and let mr.Salvatore know about the issue.. im sure he will adress it sooner if it causes problems for people.

I have no idea who you are talking about.. I guess the tool that you are using to correct sums is simply turning the RSA checking off. This will result in potentially showing an RSA failure with no ill effects.

Correct. One of my tools that I use for checksum does not fix the RSA signature properly, yet the files work perfectly.

I have no idea who you are talking about..
Obviously the MTX plugin, its creator, and ME7Check.. since that is what the OP is asking about. (ofc i can add 14 more custom RSAs to a file, encrypt the hell out of it, and tell him the plugin doesnt work for this custom file, but i dont see a reason for that since it seem to work 100% on ALL stock files, and id assume that is what he needs to know in this case)

Let me warm up this thread. I've played around with a 06A906032HN ori file, slightly modded some economy related features (attached)

RSA signature failure found -> Found 1 error!!! *******************************
-so far I tought having an RSA error is not a serious problem, used the car for ~3 days and 10-20 starts without any problems. And then it refused to start and got a DTC 16985. I had to recover my eeprom backup to go. My eeprom is for 06A906032DE version, immo disabled.
Any ideas how to avoid this RSA failure?
