Has anyone done a VVT delete or know how to do one? I have an Audi S3 (AMK, 8N0906018J)... main reason for doing it is I want to run a non VVT tensioner to see if it eliminates what I believe to be a mechanical issue with my engine and a new VVT tensioner is stupidly expensive in comparison to non VVT plus I have access to a new non VVT unit I can try out... I would like to code out the VVT so that the ECU doesn't get upset and my map runs as it should...

I am interested too (Currently APY planing to move to wideband),

 I have not managed to find any infomation on coding out the VVT unlike EVAP, EGT SAI etc, just on adding a a resistor as per:-

I have an old VVT solenoid so I can fudge the open circuit etc diagnosis but still get the set point not reached fault... although I am pretty sure this is not the entire picture as I am not sure how this affects the logic of the ECU...

I will try and have a read of the functions doc and see if I can make any sense of it but I would imagine there are a few bits of the map that need setting to 0 to 'switch off' VVT rather than make the ECU ignore faults as it will still try and use the position 2 maps at a guess which is probably not the best idea....

I suppose you could set them all to be the same but disabling the act of using VVT seems a better approach to me...

Hi.
If I remember right there is nws_sy or something and it is :
0=off
1= on/off
3= portable/continously

Looking through the docs I found the following in 'PROKONAL 1:30'

System Contant
SY_NWS: camshaft adjustment
= 0: No NWS
= 1: 2-point NWS
= 2: steady NWS
> 2: not defined

Some info about dependences but I cannot find where or how I would access this variable to change it... closest I have got so far is CDNWS (currently set at 3)  with the definition of 'Code word DNWS off (EURO-coding), CD ..= 0 -> no diagnosis'

Further potential sections...
ANWSER (intake camshaft control plate switch)
BBDNWS (ready diagnosis camshaft)
DNWSEEIN (Diagnosis of the camshaft stage (inlet side))
DNWSEIN (Diagnosis valve timing (intake side))

There are a few more but you get the picture... would appear it should be a case of simply setting SY_NWS=0 and jobs a good un but I can't find it in my maps currently... unless of course I am missing something completely... which is more likely Smiley

I've also put a VVT file onto a non-VVT car. I'll look to see what I did to code it out.

would appear it should be a case of simply setting SY_NWS=0

Unfortunately, the SY_ constants are compile time and fixed per image. You cannot change them. You can only find a different image which was compiled with a different SY_ setting.

I thought as much... booo.... I guess an approach would be to code out the diagnostics and make relevant variant 1/2 tables the same values (as the position 1)... I have a spare VVT solenoid to keep the ECU happy for that at least it will just be the setpoint not reached code I suspect that needs sorting...

Additional hidden issue.
Until some VVT errors are detected your ECU switch off LTFT

Hi Guys,

I swaped my head from AWT to AEB engine...Ecu is a ME7.5 (4B0 906 018 DH)
I had this fault code ; 17939 - Camshaft Timing Adjustment:
P1531 Open Circuit



After the ESKONF map tuning, i have a new error code about cam position sensor...


17748- Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) / Engine Speed Sensor (G28)
P1340 Incor. Correlation



I think  this issue related with VVT, but i couldn't solve..

How can i sort out this issue ? Do you have a any suggestions about that ?

Incorrect correlation means whoever did the timing belt on that engine needs to stop touching Audis.

As brutal as the other guy put it, he's right.

Timing is off between crank and cam. Check belt, and be upset at the guy who did the belt.  Unless it was you?!
