Flashing TCU
« on: May 22, 2012, 10:35:50 AM »
Is this possible with this process ??
I do believe that it is connected through the CAN bus and would be worthwhile over GIAC Tip Chip as a DIY Solution

I'm still soldering these, I think it's too rare and old for any tool developers to work on now.

So you have a programming tool, flash a new chip and then solder it in?
IIRC GIAC was actually doing it this way for a while as well

The fact that it connects means absolutely nothing besides the fact that the TCU obviously speaks KWP1281.

As I found out LOL
Which makes perfect sense.
For me the TCU is integrated inside the trans so there is no way that I know of to unsolder/program/resolder
Oh well fun thought LOL
