I've used me7logger in the past but now I have a VX220 with the Z20LET engine and ME1.5.5 ECU. I've tried using opcom+cable but it's slow and limited rather like vcds is. I see my ecu should be supported under the adavanced protocols but what variables would this give me acccess to? Reluctant to buy a J2534 cable etc until I know this will do the job.

All of the variables, only bitfields are missing in case of generated def.

And a proper J2534 cable is a good investment, there's thousands of different software applications that work with it.

That cable does not work, not standards compliant:

Only on TP2.0. Those cables don't support ISO-TP in hardware properly.
Possible to work around it via muxer, but why bother?

But the Tactrix Openport 2.0 is OK ? It looks like the most reasonably priced of the genuine cables.

It's the cable that the development is done with, because it is the most commonly used.
I can't say it's "the best", because it has some software limitations, and an extremely shitty failure prone mini-usb connection, but it should work quite well with every conceivable app out there.
