Hey everyone! I have ran into an issue with my ECU and was hoping someone can help.
Back story: Bricked ECU because of disconnect while flashing.
Now I have Galletto and FTDI cable with correct serial.
I use boot mode and when I try to write with Galletto I Get this:
Writing ECU Writing InitilizationOK Seed key... OK Erasing...OK Start writing...Error writing
I tried to connect with Nefmoto in boot mode just to verify that I am in fact in boot mode and I get this:
Connecting... Starting bootstrap loader upload. Sent bootstrap init zero byte. Sent bootstrap init zero byte. Sent bootstrap init zero byte. Bootstrap loader upload failed. Failed to receive device ID response for init zero byte. Disconnected
I tried it several times by grounding #24 pin and several times by bridging the contacts. Is my ECU totally screwed?
TIA!

Bootmode:
Remove power from the ecu. Connect pin 24 of the eprom to ground, power up eprom. Continue to hold pin 24 to ground for 5 seconds. Remove ground, attempt to connect with galletto.
This works consistently without fail for me. Are you sure you didn't accidentally ground the wrong pin while attempting this? Post a pic of the bootpin you are using.

Im willing to bet its a voltage problem. My ebay galletto was a nightmare to get going, but now I know 12.5V is the perfect voltage for it.
Start near there and work your way up slow. Shouldn't be over 13v.

I don't get that far with Galletto if I'm not in boot mode. Do you get boot mode not active error? Is the ECU in the car or on the bench?

Thanks for the quick reply. ECU is in the car. Here's the pic. The only messages I get in the log are the ones I posted. I'll start over and try to keep the an eye on the voltage. The voltage did dip once when I tried to write with Galletto first time I have a new battery now and it's on a charger at 12.5V.

I hear everyone talking about galletto being voltage sensitive, and I feel bad for you guys. Mine works anywhere from 11v to 15v, but I've never gotten it to connect via OBD.
OP: You have the right bootpins, you shouldn't be having this issue. I'd try pulling the ecu out of the car and benching it. If you can't figure it out, LMK. I'd be happy to take a look at it if you were so inclined to ship it. (no money involved).
You're sure you didn't accidentally ground any other pis at any point? Try hooking a battery charger up to the car and seeing if that helps.

I'm positive I didn't touch any other pins. I'm at 12.5V with the key on and on batt. charger. I did have a voltage dip before, while I was trying to flash with Galletto. Thanks for the offer, I'll have to take you up on that.

I have never got mine to work in the car. With a batter charger, with jumper cables from another car or just the cars battery alone. I always have to flash it on the bench in Bootmode.

I'm in the process of building a bench rig and getting a spare ECU. I'm sending my ECU to dillenger, maybe he can figure it out. Till then I'm SOL I guess. I should have had a spare before I started all this. I know better...

It never worked for me in the car. On the bench it is working ok, although it is sensitive to how long you keep the pins shorted etc.

Hey Fil, fedex pickup scheduled for tomorrow. I ended up having to replace the eprom, it would intermittently lose communication during and after flashing. Not quite sure why, it does look like the ecu got a bit of water contamination at one time. All is well now, I ran it in my car for an hour to make sure you wouldn't have any issues.

Excellent news. E-Kudos to you! Not sure why the ECU had contamination, never opened it before all this went down. I'll let you know what I think of your tune. Thanks a lot for all your help!

Back from the dead.
So I have sold my car and the new owner is having exactly the same issue again. Trying to flash with Galleto and getting this over and over:
Writing ECU Writing InitilizationOK Seed key... OK Erasing...OK Start writing...Error writing
Maybe bad EEPROM contacts again? The symptoms are exactly the same.

If parts of the board were destroyed by water some time ago it just might get worse up to now. I would double check the board for any signs of water.

I never had any water damage, but Daz found corrosion on the pins in the past, so who knows. I'm leaning towards a new ECU myself.
