It's a standalone unit just like the rest on the market.
The ONLY difference is the board size and connector, probably to be able to "hide" it in a standard Motronic alucasing and depending on which VAG car it might be pin compatible with standard harness.

Very popular plug'n play ecu here in denmark on VAG machines. it is totally plug´n play with original wiring harness and sensors used og ex 1.8t. main reason people decides to change from me7 is to get rid of the MAF.  a friend of mine is making 440hp on his 1.8t with fmj/fartstrup ECU. runs perfectly - but if it is better than me7? guess its up to how proff the tuner is Wink

you can download the control software on thier website. its an old DOS based system. but works fine

"This plug-and-play ECU is based off of the V88 unit, with many of the same useful features. These have very flexible control fuctions to control all of your inputs/outputs, and allow you to design your own functions to control them. This unit can precisely control injectors and ignition at low or high RPM and low or high manifold pressures. These have a very high level of protection from interferance built into the ECU to ensure smooth running even at the most extreme conditions. This unit can control variable cam timing for up to four camshafts, with cam position from full advance to full retard in less than one second. The built in closed loop idle support will make for OEM like idle stability. Boost can easily be controlled as well, even boost-by-gear. These ECUs also have features like antilag, flatshift, launch control, and traction control. All OEM features (including DBW throttles) are supported with this unit, making it truly "plug-and-play". The billet aluminum case uses the same mounting location as the factory ECU, so no extra brackets are needed.

the developer of the ECU is named Fartstrup as his last name  Cool regular danish word

Just wanted to touch on this... Yesterday I met Kenneth from ktech.dk... he is trying to get this ECU on the market... very nice guy and the ECU is a very impressive piece. It easily is the best PnP replacement ECU for ME at this time, even better then the Vipec. 

With the Fartstrup you get to keep ESP/ASR, etc.. You can even use your OE immobilizer... It has Bluetooth, CAN/OBDII communications protocols. 

I held in my hands the unit/board pictured in the OP, the quality was outstanding.
