Hello to all, I've managed to get a 1.0mb ecu from an audi a6, the ecu code is 4z7907551c. My original ecu is a 1998 512kb euro version 8d0907551E and I had no possibility to flash that ecu with a file through OBD2 port so I've bought the a6 ecu. I really don't know if it's compatible with my car but I can connect to it via vag-com with a ebay KKL409.1 ft232rl cable. The thing is, I can connect to it with nefmoto software with kwp2000 protocol and read DTC's but after that it automatically disconnect's, it doesn't care if it's on slow-init or fast-init. The thing that bothers me most is that it won't read or flash and I don't know what I have to do in order to make the software to stay connected to te ecu, I've tried with every memory layout from the nefmoto folder, that didn't work either. I've read somewhere sometime ago that the early euro version S4's require another wire from the ecu to the obd2 port in order to make it flashable through obd2 port but I am not certain. So if you care to help a noob here then please let me know. My mods are gt2860 turbos on stock engine, modified stocl downpipes connecting to a 80mm pipe, 660cc bosch injectors, fmic, spec stage5 clutch and a aem fic6 piggyback. And by the way, sorry for my grammar and my spelling mistakes, I'm from Romania.

hey Without additional information, I'd put my money on the Immobilizer being the issue. You will need to defeat or adapt it(if equipped) prior to flashing. Install the ecu in the car, and try to start it. Does the car start and die shortly after? check out this below http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=2973.0title=

@papasound I will try that tomorrow to see if it works.
@vdubnation I had a code for the immobilizer in vag-com and I did the adaptation or how it is called, now vag-com will not show immo code anymore. The care won't even start with the a6 ecu, I can only hear it trying to ignite like when the spark plugs are wet and won't give any spark, a slight sputter in the exhaust. It did the same thing when vag-com was showing the code for the immo. First I thought that my spark plugs are wet, I took them out and they were not...

So lets get this right your original ecu works fine in the car but you cant connect with vcds or nefmoto . Then you got another ecu and it wont start or connect properly to nefmoto . I would rig up a bench harness and try to read or write from there . Also i know in mk4 golf/jettas i wouldnt be able to connect to vcds due to aftermarket radio harness which had the kline grounded not sure if this is the same for s4's. A bench harness is easy to make just need a steady 12v supply http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=417.0

@vdubnation sorry for the delay, i was very busy with my exams at my university. I can connect my original ecu to vcds or nefmoto, but that one is unflashable anyway and yes, not even that one stays connected to nefmoto software, same goes for the 1024kb one. I managed to make a bench harness out of some old computer cables I had laying around and a 420w ATX power supply, check out the files attached. Now the problem is I can't read/flash any file because of the memory layout, the folder containing the memory layouts doesen't seem to have one for a 4z7907551c ecu and I think the immo is interfering when I'm trying to read the ecu.

Your suppose to be using 29F800BB memory layout

The problem is not the ECU, the problem is the cluster. It'll break communications. Some people say that a few original tools will do them, but I haven't seen one work just yet. Solution - immo off the ECU and bypass the cluster. The K-Line goes from the diagnostics plug to the cluster, and then there is a "W-Line" from the cluster to the ECU. You would need to get a direct line from diagnostics plug's K-Line pin to the ECU W-Line pin and leave the cluster out. You will find that ME7Logger also won't work with the cluster disturbing the communications, no matter how you init it... I guess there's some secret handshake to tell the cluster to STFU, but I don't know what it is

@prj I'll try that after I will flash the 1024kb ecu although it does not stay connected even with the original 512kb ecu which I don't it's without immo. @vdubnation I used that memory layout, this is what I get, check the picture below. How come the immo is in the way after I disabled it through vag-com and I don't get any codes for the immo?

You can't disable the immobilizer through vag-com. That's your issue right there.

@ddillenger damn, that's a bit complicated. If I want to do the part 1 thing, you say I need to do that in boot mode? I can't connect in boot-mode with my cable, do I have to buy a galetto?

Galletto? No. Your vcds/nefmoto cable will work fine, but to write the immo-off file you need to get the ecu in bootmode. This is very easy. Read the thread, and if you have questions (that aren't answered in that thread) feel free to post them.
Otherwise, ship the ecu to someone to do. If you were in the US I'd do it for you. I'll be happy to connect to your pc and run the CMD, but you need to get the ecu in bootmode first.

Ok, I searched the forums and I found out that I have to ground a pin on the flash memory or processor?
