How can I power it with out it being in the harness? Disassemble the ecu?
or, leave the stock connector out of it, and just power the pins. I didn't get bootmode success until I added a switch to the pin3 power. the other +12 pins are energized as long as the supply is on.

The wires are the leads from the power supply. The wire sleeving can be purchased from mcmaster carr, it just keeps a job clean.

That looks a lot better than what I have going on. I haven't gotten to test it yet. I think it will work though. Fingers are crossed if it doesn't a may try to make one like yours.

I do. That's what caused all my questions from the beginning because it still had every single wire attached to it

Take the connector apart and remove all the unused wires. Much cleaner/safer.

Does anyone know how many amps the ECU uses? I have the chance to get a great deal on some 12V power supplies, but I don't know how many amps the ECU uses, so I don't know if what I can get will work. The options I have are 1.7A and 3.4A, both 12VDC output.

Either of those will work for a normal ECU, as the ECU does not have anything connected to it.
