Hello everyone. Newbie here. I registered a few months ago looking for information on how to delete immobilizer for my audi. Now a little history on myself. Fix BMW for a living. VW and audi is my fun. I got a b5 a4 FWD from a friend for free with a blown motor. Was going to rebuild the motor but got a great deal on a 2.7l motor complete with ecu out of a 2001 audi a6. Decided hey how hard can it be to put in a B5 A4. Ok so a year later finally got around to putting the motor in. Man I thought going the wiring was hard, getting rid of the immobilizer is the worst. I tried a ecu from a 2000 s4 no good.  Now i want to try and program it out. But there is so much info I don't know where to start. The hardest part for me is figuring out/understanding what a lot of the info means. So with that said I would like to say THANK YOU to everyone that post all the help info that I have been reading.

If your 2000 s4 ECU is north american, it should have worked assuming you had it coded right and a bosch MAF.

I try to change the soft coding but it wouldn't take and don't have a Bosch maf. Can get one. However  It keeps logging a fault for the epc light & malfunction light don't remember the fault codes at the moment. What happens is the engine starts and the idle jumps up then engine shuts off. I don't think the Ecu good has a permanent fault for engine coolant temp. But any ideas is greatly appreciated

Did you successfully immo off the ecu that came with the motor? My 2001.5 C5 came with immo3 active.

I had the coolant temp dtc after tearing my beast down. The connector was just hanging out under the res, it was on when i put it on but pops off easy if the plug isn't seated 100% and you pull to the get the res. on top of its mounting tabs. <- simple things man, simple things...

Also, the s4 ecu cannot be softcoded 06712 for the A6. You must code it 06711, then the coding will be accepted and retained. Functionally there is no difference. HOWEVER, the softcoding will not allow you to run a different MAF, you must flash a different file. 8D0907551M is for a hitachi MAF. I'd say start there.

If you expect to make meaningful progress, you're going to have to take note of the actual codes.

I check the faults that the s4 ecu have. Check wires connector, power and ground good. No short or damage wires. Also I have 2 a6 ecu and neither on log those faults. I tried the soft code u stated but still didn't take. Don't if it's because it's looking for the automatic transmission.

The only 2000 S4 ecu's with immo are not North American.

Where did you get the ecu?

You said you had a 2000 s4 ecu. That should work if it is a 1Mb version

flash mbox on to it, and call it a day.

are you doing bootmode on a bench harness?

if not, how are you doing it in car?

and why are you using bootmode at all? you dont need it for the s4 ecu if it doesn't have immo.

finally, please use print screen don't take a picture of your screen geez

Sorry for the pic. I'm using the iPad. Ok help me out here this is what I have. I do have a 2000 s4 ecu 8d0 907 551 b and 2 a6 ecu 4b0 907 551 t. Now the s4 ecu have a permanent fault for the ECT sensor. I clear it it comes rite back. Replace sensor. Wiring is good. So unless it coding then this ecu is defective.  Also it starts an shut off like it has an immo. The a6 ecu have immo. I can't even read flash I get disconnect with message immo not authenticated. I have all the immo off files but it seems I don't have the proper memory layout.
