24v 2.8 VR6 ECU in R32?
« on: September 02, 2013, 12:15:46 PM »
i have an R32 with a bad ECU and i was wondering if anyone has tried to use the 2.8 24V VR6 ECU in an R32? the 2.8 VR6 ECU ecu part number is 022906032CS and the R32 ECU part number is 022906032EG. both are ME7.1.1, the actual hardware on the engines is identical. the only real difference i see is the displacement, one being 2.8 and the other 3.2. only thing i could see being different ECU wise is the state of tune being more aggressive for the R32 and the ECU's coding being different. anyone have any input on this because i'd hate to jsut go out on a limb and waste money on a 2.8 ECU for nothing.

The engine will run, poorly. Your AC also won't work. Running the software in the ECU is just a bad idea, best would be to have it reflashed with proper R32 firmware.

i figured there would be a catch. im capable of flashing the R32 file over the stock 2.8 file. R32 ECU is tough to find at a good price but i can get the 2.8 ECU's cheap and their a good bit of them around me.

Can you still read the eeprom from your original ECU? If you can then write the eeprom and R32 flash to the 2.8 ecu, if both files are good and write properly you will be good to go.

I sure you know this, The 2.8 has 1 front and 1 rear o2sensor, vs the r32 having 2 front and 2 rear.
The r32 also has a different maf and thottle body which I'm sure changes things alongs with the r32 having bigger injectors.
But if you put both the tune and the eeprom I sure your good to go.
So now the ? is in the motor still in a r32? cause I got other ???s/thoughts if not.
