I use vag k + can 3.6

I also have VAG 409.1, but I get an error when I use 0x08.
I'm trying to boot mode, ground pin 24 with a resistor 1kohm for 5-10 seconds

Process to get into boot mode should be...
1. power off ecu
2. ground pin 24
3. power on ecu
4. wait 3-5 seconds and remove pin 24 ground

Is this the procedure u r following?

Id say the cable you have is not supported by argdubs tool. take a pic of the cable you are using and upload

none on that page has had the same issue as you... arg dubs tool is not getting a response from your cable... thats the trouble your having. Vag k can commander uses ft23 chip i not sure why it didnt work. I have had 3 cables that ive had to use with argdubs tool, first was galletto 1260 cable and it worked fine (until it stopped working bad solder connections). the second cable was just a ebay special and  I only had one successful write with that cable. No matter what rate I tryed to connect at it always failed. Third and last cable works flawlessly and is identical to the second one that I ordered...

My one cable "blue" is on the chip 232Bm, I understand that your cable on the chip 232RL works ok with ardub tools.
when the ECU was in the car with no problem this cable to connect to the read error, it is no longer on the table
