Hello, and sorry to ask another connection thread, but I've been searching and trying to no avail. I am attempting to connect in vehicle.

I have tried just about every driver I can find for the black ross-tech copy cable from ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=201134111763

I am currently able to connect to the ecu with vag-com via this cable, check fault codes etc. I wasn't able to get any kind of action at all at first with nefmoto, until I found via search on the forum that some people had to UNcheck the "should verify cable in dumb mode" box in the settings. After I did that I get this result for every possible baud speed and configuration, fast and slow:

Any ideas? would really like to start tinkering and learning how to use the software, but I simply can't connect!!

Im running XP home edition on the laptop

EDIT:

Tried pulling cluster fuse, did not change connectivity.

Get an ftdi cable, not a rosstech clone..

or buy a real ross tech cable..

Unfortunately, I thought I was buying an FTDI cable, check the ebay link at the top of the OP. The description says FTDI, which is what I need based on what I read here in the faq/getting started. As soon as I plugged it in and loaded the drivers, the laptop says its ross-tech. Or at least thinks it's ross-tech.

So I need a new cable. The cheap blue ones work apparently?

There is a sticky.

"Cables that you, the members.....(something about confirmed working)"

Check it out, and then post the one you end up buying, and if it works. Smiley

ddillenger, thanks for the reply. I guess not every cable on fleabay that looks the part will play nice....

I just ordered this cable on your recommendation from the "known good cables" thread:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/281312477303?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

*edit*

A few weeks later, and this cable works for read/write with NefMoto. Stoked!

we'll see how it goes in a couple of weeks. I will post in the cables thread once confirmed working.

I think this one is a proper topic. I have genuine Ross-Tech cable (HEX-COM) and since it's a RS232  and my laptop doesn't have RS232-port so I have RS232-USB adapter (UC-232A) and for this the right drivers is ATEN USB to serial. So the shorten version: RossTech -> serial to USB -> laptop (Lenovo T400s, Win7 32-bit).

I've tried to uninstall those ATEN drivers and then install FTID or RossTech's VCP drivers with no success. And if I try to install over the ATEN drivers, windos just tells that the ATEN drivers are best and doesn't install other drivers. Is there anyway to get this kind of combination to work with Nefmoto? Or do I have to just buy one more cable for Nefmoto? And I have unchecked from VCDS that "Boot in intelligent mode" etc.

Oh, and the main problem is, that NefMoto doesn't recognize the cable.

e: Tried my genuine Galletto cable and Nefmoto recognize that one. But the problem with Galletto cable is that it doesn't connect with the car in Nefmoto. Any ideas? I enabled the VCP in FGTech USB driver, but can't get any drivers installed for it.
