I have 2 Ecus'
Audi TT EURO MY2001 1.8T 180hp 8N0906018AQ S0001

Skoda Octavia RS EURO MY2004 1.8T 180hp 06A906032HN S0002

The TT Ecu is installed with the Engine in my Mk2 golf both Ecu's are DBW , i have the TT Pedal in my car

is it possible to flash the VAG100 (tt) file to the VAG163 (vrs) ECU?
I ask as the VRS ecu will run the car but wont respond to any throttle, it just idles, albeit lumpily
When i was attempting to immo off the vrs ecu i accidentally touched my earth lead to a pin on the ECU and it caused a spark and blackened one of the legs of a pin on one of the chips (not the boot chip)
This may have fried a chip i dont really know, the ECU has since had boot mode enabled and immo off , i have also read the flash and even run the car since the damage

So assuming the chip is ok and ECU is all good
Maybe the difference in ecu's means the engine wont rev on the vrs one (but is fine on the original tt one)
i want to flash the tt file and see if it will rev

what are the chances of it working ?
or bricking the vrs ecu ?

Of course it is wholly possible that the accident has fried the chip and this is causing the engine not to rev with the vrs ecu

The vrs ecu is only for Dev work and until i am confident enough around tuning i wont touch my original TT ecu files

I'll post some pics of the damaged chip later when i get home

Thanks for your input
Steve

Check the bootrom version. If they are the same, it won't brick.

HOWEVER.

Crossflashing is rarely advised.

Thanks for the reply

I'm not convinced its a software issue, rather my earthing accident that has caused this problem

How do you know if ECU is 'bricked' what are the signs ??

Not being able to write to it in bootmode.

Personally I would try reading/writing the eeprom in bootmode, and writing the flash in bootmode. If that doesnt work, buy another ecu
