I have a 2000 VW Cabrio MK3.5 with 2.0 ABA motor, IMMO2 6H0 953 257B and ECU 037 906 018A. I need to make a second key to the car, but I need my SKC or PIN code. Is it retrievable over OBD2 from the ECU? I looked around and people are talking about ME7 programmer. Can I use it on this car with the original serial cable HEX+CAN of Ross Tech? Is this ECU ME7 also? Thank you

After some more reading I got my original VAG COM serial cable with the Boot in intelligent mode unchecked and tried to download the ECU bin using me7_95040.exe over OBD with no luck. The baudrate was 10400. Even when I set it to 9600 it reported that it was connecting at 10400. This is an IMMO2 car and it has a separate IMMO 2 module. VAG TACHO and commander 2.5 are not working on this car to retrieve the SKC either. I am trying to avoid opening the IMMO box and desoldering the chip so I can put it in an EEPROM programmer and dump it. Any help guys will be highly appreciated. I went to two locksmiths and they couldn't program my second key.

you need to pull the immo box and read the 24c04. nothing will work over obd.
come on people. try to educate yourself. just because theres a tool for one type of ecu doesnt mean it works for everything. of course the 95040 tool doesnt work. theres no 95040. the cabrio is using a completely different flavor ecu!

One more question. Does this immo 6H0 953 257B has TMS370 or a 24c04?

I did read this http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=4466.msg44613 . But that information is for the 6X0 953 257 and not for the 6H0 953 257B. Are you saying that they are both the same? Because from what I read the eeprom on the 6H0 is a TMS370. I have no first hand experience and the information I read could be wrong. So please let me know.

Vag tacho can get you the pin. Not sure if it's the same as the mk3 golf with separate immo box . But you need a working key in ignition to get the pin. From this you "should" be able to code a key.

I tried that with no luck. I also had two locksmiths try with professional equipment. Not is a rush to get this code out, but having one key on an immo car is not smart

i have to say, ive done a few cabrios by just pulling the box and have never seen one of those boxes. most of the googling of that number i found on forums seems to be all european stuff. the only way still is to pull it and dump the chip.

I finally have a second key to my car. The procedure for my 2000 Cabrio was to remove the immo box desolder the chip read it and find the PIN. Then I had to order a key from the UK. There is this UK website that makes keys from a picture. I ended up ordering from them because I could not find a blank with the transponder chip ID42 in the States at a reasonable price. The ones from eBay had ID48 transponder chip. I bought 2 of those cut one, and I was unable to program it to work with my car. To future people who happen to have this immo box 6H0 953 257B and need a spare key, make sure you find the right blank with ID42 (T10) transponder.
Thank you guys for all your help.
