I'm a noob question
« on: January 05, 2016, 11:58:04 PM »
Random question but when comparing bins to create an xdf, why are is the ldrxn for example different? Thinking as a corporation, why would you waste money to create a different value, when you can just have them all the same map values and save money? When I say this I of course mean the save engine and trans of course. For example a 518f is a 01.5-02 b6 a4 typically manual. A 518ak/af is in the b6 a4 2003-3005 both 1.8t and same hardware. Why chang the values in the ldrxn? Sorry for the stupid question.

Difference calibrators, different hp outputs. Loads of ways to skin a cat, they just chose different methods.
Why not just have one 1.8t file? Most of the hardware was the same.

I guess that makes sense because of the packages the cars come with. Thanks for the reply.

While some cars have similar outputs, they may have differing gear ratios etc. Torque output will be tailored for the individual car production line.

I read it as "why don't all cars have the same software". Could have been wrong, but his response sort of tied up with that.
