The vehicle is a 01 vw cabrio. My wife lost her transponder key. We have a key with no transponder that turns the car on for 1 second. Ive got a kkl 409.1 cable and I do have the ability and deaire to remove the ecu if necessary. Willing to try any option except give vw money. Located in san antonio.

The only way to immo off this ecu is lift the Eeprom chip and dump with a chip burner, edit and reburn / resolder. You can't do it wit a cheap clone vag cable. It's a flea chip 24c02. Good luck

Dang. Well is it possible to do the operation without desoldering but with using a 8 pin test clip? Any recommendations for an inexpensive chip reader/flasher? Otherwise any recommendations for a us based electrical genius who wont bend me over to get this done??

Thanks I really appreciate your response.

It won't work  Because it's in circuit. You need you lift it.

Again thank you for the reply. Thats likely above my skill level im afraid of toasting the ecu by soldering incompetently. Can I swap the immo module 6x0953257 with a different one that I buy with known good keys? Or would anyone delete immo if I ship them my module and pay??

I have test some M592 ECUs that it E2P can be read but not write ICSP. M38x nope at all. Best bet is to take  it out board for proper operation.

Yes but just to clarify I have been lucky with some ECUs. Others no.
