Yellow is typically 12V, but you'll want to double check with a volt meter.
Also, a PC supply is probably overkill... you can make do with a 1000mA 12v wall wart.
Would it be fine to use? I'm trying to do this on a budget sort of thing, going scrapyard Saturday to pick up an obd port and ecu plugging s

All PSUs have a momentary "on" lead that has to be shorted to bring up the PSU. It is assumed you knew this.

Other than plugging the PSU and powering it on.. I had a understanding something had to be jumper in order to actually power the PSU.. hence why I plug it in and the PSU fan doesn't spin even though It's powered
Anyhow I've manged to jump it Green + Black = PSU power.. Getting a 12v from the yellow and Black is an earth

It might be wise to buy also proper adapter for EEPROMs...

I've just installed MPPS V13 - I've loaded the program up and I cannot find the ECU.. the only one listed is the 1.8T me5.8.5 IIRC I can't find the me3.8.3

Thanks I managed to do it after I posted that last night next problem In MPPS I can't actually find the ME3.8.3 I know you cant read from the ecu.

You should look for M3.8.3 as it is not DBW ECU
